Connie Biba, of Genoa, drops off unused medications to Ron Swirczek, a board member of Partnership Carson City, during the fall drug round-up at Save Mart in Carson City on Oct. 19.
Officials collected 273 pounds of medicine and 114 pounds of needles during the round-up event at three locations.
In addition to the biannual round-ups, unused medication can be dropped off for safe disposal at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 911 E. Musser St., 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. There is a secure box inside the front entrance.
You can also stop by our office for Deterra bags, the safest way to dispose of any medications – including over-the-counter, prescription and illicit drugs. Disposing of these items safely is important for keeping them away from those who don’t need them, as well as for keeping our water supply and community as healthy as possible.
The PCC drug round-up effort is part of the federal drug round-up initiative.
