Dispose of Unused Prescriptions Safely During Partnership Carson City’s October Drug Round Up
October 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Three Carson City Locations

CARSON CITY, Nev. (October 7, 2025) – Partnership Carson City, a local nonprofit focusing on education and prevention for drug addictions and mental well-being, invites residents to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications during its annual Drug Round Up. Taking place Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event focuses on preventing misuse by offering a convenient disposal option.

Residents are encouraged to drop off medications and sharps/syringes at any of the three collection locations in Carson City:

  • North Carson Savemart, at 3620 N Carson St, Carson City
  • Foodmaxx, at 3325 US-50, Carson City, NV 89701
  • Smith’s, at 599 E William St, Carson City, NV 89701

The program helps protect the environment and promotes community well-being by ensuring medications are properly discarded.

“Our entire focus is on supporting our community and keeping harmful drugs, even those that may say they are expired, from others,” said Samantha Szoyka, deputy director for Partnership Carson City. “By holding our safe disposal event, we want to make it easy for residents to remove unwanted medications from their homes and prevent any misuse, accidental poisonings, or even worse, accidental overdoses of vulnerable individuals. It’s easy too. Just gather your medications and bring them to us at one of the four locations, and we’ll take care it from there.”

Accepted items include pills, capsules, tablets, liquids, and sharps/syringes in sealed containers.

At-home drug disposal kits are also available. The kits provide an option for proper disposal at home and are safe for trash disposal.

In addition, Naloxone (Narcan®) will be available at the event. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
