Diabetes Self-Management Class

Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) is a licensed diabetes self-management education (DSME) curriculum developed by the University of Illinois, Chicago. DEEP helps participants take control of their disease and reduce risk of complications.
Topics for this 6-week study:
- What is diabetes and understanding the human body
- Risk factors and diabetes
- Monitoring your body
- Get up and move! Diabetes and physical activity
- Management of diabetes through meal planning
- Diabetes complication: identification and prevention
- Learning about medications & medical care
- Living with diabetes: mobilizing your family and friends
