In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month in September, Partnership Carson City (PCC) is teaming up with the Suicide Prevention Network and Partnership Douglas County for a mental wellness event and walk to remember those lost through suicide Saturday, Sept. 24.

During the event, participants can learn about agencies, options and resources dedicated to self-care and mental wellness. Raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes are also available for purchase at the event.

“Events like the Suicide Awareness Walk are one way that we as an organization bring attention to and raise much-needed funds for advocacies like this,” said PCC Deputy Director Samantha Szoyka. “We hope this year’s walk sends the message that suicide is preventable and no one is ever alone.”

All participants are encouraged to share their walk experience by submitting photos of their walk and pictures of loved ones lost due to suicide. Send photos to PCC directly at samantha@pcccarson.org or tag PCC on Instagram or FacebookBy submitting a photo, you are giving permission for PCC to use the images in publicity and social media to further enhance efforts and bring awareness to the cause.

Registration for the Suicide Awareness Walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Suicide Prevention Network booth at McFadden Plaza in Carson City.
